Lake City (5): Animas Forks Ghost Town

Posted in The Boys, The Outdoors by Thad Noyes on 19 December, 2010

As part of the jeep ride around the Alpine Loop, we dropped down into a famous Colorado ghost town called Animas Forks. Animas Forks was a thriving mining community in the heart of the San Juan mountains near the end of the 19th century (1875ish). It eventually went bust, leaving a number of old, abandoned homes which are still open for viewing.

Wow. Must have been kinda creepy. To think of the lives and history of that place. The families. Very cool. Amazing.
