We took the kids to see the St. Louis Arch today, and the boys went all the way to the top. Along the riverfront I also took some photos of Eads Bridge (complete in 1874), which is also known for its own beautiful arches.

Odds and Ends

We are presently in the middle of our trip back home after visiting family in KC for Thanksgiving. As I sit here in a hotel room on the edge of Kansas, I thought I’d pass along a few things of interest to me.

We had the pleasure of worshiping at a Sovereign Grace church yesterday in the KC area (Providence Community Church). I became familiar with the SG family of churches while at SBTS, where Bob Kauflin and C.J. Mahaney were household names. Julie and I love to listen to their music, and we were truly blessed by worshiping with these God-centered and gospel-loving people.

In other news, MU is now ranked number 1 in the BCS standings. Being from Missouri, this is exciting, and I sure enjoyed watching the game Saturday night with my two “big bros.”

While in KC, I received a new Nikon D80 camera as a big time 30th birthday gift (thank you, Tim!). I’m looking forward to sharing photos in the days ahead if I can ever figure out how to use the thing. Our local community college offers a photography class that is virtually free for residents, so I may be signing up for the spring semester.

Elk season starts this Saturday. I have a tag for a cow elk, which is good because one good elk fills our deep freeze for about a year. There’s no need to buy beef.

Finally, I just couldn’t pass up this video which I found at Josh Harris’ blog. It’s from the French version of American Idol.
